Blue Cheese Salami Appetizer
What’s your take on appetizers? Meaning, can you eat it as your meal and be satisfied? I’m that person who always orders an appetizer when we go out to eat. There’s something about that little morsel of deliciousness to dazzle the taste buds before the main course. However, I’m finding that I’ll order a few appetizers and skip the main meal altogether.
I’m all about variety when it comes to food. They are small portions and you can try a bunch of different things. I think that’s one of the reasons I loved going to buffets (well, let me clarify that statement… I love going to good buffets! I’ve been to some sketchy ones where I wouldn’t even try the water in my glass).
For me, these Baked Salami Cups are such a great appetizer that you can easily turn into a meal. Crunchy, cheesy, delicious and all around delicious!
As you can see there are only a few ingredients and there is an optional (bagel toast). Later in the post, I’ll talk about substitutions and making them keto-friendly
Antipasto Platter (with Ideas For What To Use)
Now all you need here is a mini muffin tin. However, if you don’t have one and just have a large standard size muffin tin, don’t worry. Just triple the recipe (just double the jelly though). You just need to make sure the meat covers the muffin well and the cheese is about halfway up.
Now you can stop there and serve these little bites as is, but here your girl wanted something more.
. It doesn’t add much flavor to it or make any difference in texture. These Fritos I used to love but then I love Fritos. However, the corn chip flavor overpowered the rest of the dish.
I then tried the bagel crisp. Guys this was so good! Like really, really good! It added a killer crunch, a hint of flavor (I used all bagel crisps) but still left the salami cup as the star.
Easy Baked Salami Chips Served With Mustard
I love this section of my posts because I love showing easy swaps that can help you make a full tray of these cups but with all the different flavors!
You can definitely make this ahead of time (1-2 days) but don’t add the bagel crisps or basil until you’re ready to serve.
Place salami cups on a lined, rimmed baking sheet and place in a 350F oven for 5-7 minutes or until heated through and crisps again. Add basil and bagel toast before serving.
Freezing – I haven’t tried freezing these because we obviously eat them too quickly. I think they will freeze well. I thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating. If you try this, let me know!

Oh boy, you can sure tell the season has changed. It’s cold and blustery outside and it looks like the holiday season is upon us. So not only am I in full holiday mode here, but I’m also trying to bring in all the comfort foods I can find while I’m planning and preparing our holiday menu. For me, cheese is the ubiquitous comfort food and everything else revolves around it. We add it to so many recipes that it’s come to be expected as a “go-to” comfort food in our house. So of course when I make a holiday appetizer I want it to be comforting and that means cheese is involved.
We like to make a beautiful cheese spread with crackers and pickles, olives, wine and more for the family to snack on while they visit. Those times when you spend moments together over food with family are very cherished.
Salami Roll Ups Recipe: How To Make It
We used these Raincoast Crisps (salty date and almond crackers) and veggie flats (beet and balsamic vinegar flatbreads) from Leslie Stowe as the base, then topped with salami, Castello bleu cheese and olives. Oh boy, I had a hard time not eating them all.
Although blue cheese is our favorite, we also like to include some Castello Havarti for those who prefer something a little milder. It’s just as delicious when paired with salami and crackers.
A cheese platter like this drives me nuts. At any party, you’ll always find me near the cheese platter and I usually have more than I should.

Salami & Cream Cheese Roll Ups
I always keep a few in my fridge and pantry to nibble on when friends stop by. Like these ingredients that actually do double duty so no worries if I don’t use them for my roll-ups. That’s where this recipe comes in. With friends over this weekend, I had a nice little platter full of fresh veggies and everything I needed for something unexpected.
I call this a retro recipe because I somehow remember it being served at gatherings my parents attended. No, I’m not that old but I do remember lively games of canasta being played with adults and of course, enjoying a few appetizers and cold drinks.
I love making these little roll-ups for so many reasons. They come together in little time, can be made ahead of time, and are kid- and adult-friendly. As my friends know, my door is always open and there is always something delicious waiting for them when they come here!
Yes, you can use a completely different cheese instead of cream cheese. The main thing to keep in mind when choosing is that the cream cheese option should be easy to spread. My recommendation would be to use a soft cheese like brie or goat cheese instead of cream cheese in this dish.
