If there’s one thing that stresses me out about this entire “back-to-school” time of the year, it’s getting out of the house with the kids. I don’t know how parents raise their children, feed them and get them out of the school door. When we have a 9:00am appointment, I feel like I need to get up at 6:00am just to have enough time to finish my coffee!

In all seriousness, it’s possible that some school-leaving mornings won’t go as planned, and you may find yourself rushing the kids out of the house without enough time for breakfast. Skipping breakfast before school? Ah, I would suggest avoiding that whenever possible. Their brains and bodies need fuel! But inevitably, you will have mornings where there is not enough time for breakfast. This is where I got you covered….

What I love about these 10 healthy meals is that they can all be made ahead of time, and some can even be frozen and reheated in seconds. Who doesn’t love a fuss-free meal when you don’t even have time to grab a cup of coffee or brush your teeth?! Sorry, that’s the way I imagine our school mornings go when the time comes.

While there are many recipes that could have been on the list, these are just a few that I have tried and enjoyed! Because let’s face it: mornings with the little ones are almost as chaotic as getting the kids to school on time! Or so I’m told.

Packable Breakfast Ideas To Get You Through This Week

As the only egg loving person in my house, i love making egg cups and toast when we have company over which i know loves eggs too! Although there are many versions online that you can look up, my variation contains whole grain bread – which makes it even more filling and filling! You can skip the bread all together, add veggies, and call them mini frittatas!

Here are some of my favorite pancake recipes—both of which can be used for this idea: Two Whole Wheat Oatmeal Pancakes and Five Mix Pancakes. Once the pies are ready (preferably on the weekend), store all the pies in the fridge or freezer until morning, then reheat them in the microwave or toaster. To assemble the sandwich, take one of the pies and spread any kind of nut butter on top, place the other pie on top to make a sandwich. there he is! Much easier than cutting a pie dipped in syrup in the car if you ask me.

While I can’t say this recipe is perfect for a car ride, the banana breakfast bars did really well on the trip from our house to the park [all while with little ones in the stroller], so I’d like to think it would work just as well for your little one. School age!

A simple no-recipe breakfast idea that’s completely customizable based on the flavor of your yogurt and the mixes you have at home! A simple layer of yogurt and your favorite fruit in a mason jar the night before. In the morning, sprinkle some granola or oatmeal on top, grab a spoon and you’re ready to head out the door. No mason jars? Don’t worry man! Simply use any small re-sealable plastic or glass container.

Another family favourite! No-Bake Granola Bars are soft, delicious and easy to carry! Just don’t forget to bring some water or milk for the ride!

This does require a little culling in the morning. But the night before, you can add fruit and other favorite smoothie add-ins to a freezer-friendly plastic bag. In the morning, put everything in a blender with milk or water. Here’s how to make smoothies at home – with our kid-friendly smoothie guide. And if you don’t want your kids to take fine china in the car, consider getting a few of these travel mugs so they can enjoy their smoothies in the car.

I called a friend for this idea. Or at least I tell myself “the leading woman” We’d be friends if we were neighbors. Get her step-by-step for frozen breakfast sandwiches here. When I make a batch of frozen breakfast sandwiches, I use whole-wheat English muffins, breakfast sausage, cheese, and a fried egg. I should probably add more veggies but sometimes I forget this step!

I can’t take credit for the waffle recipe for this one, but I love eating Eggos [yes, I relive my childhood every time I eat Eggo], spread half with peanut butter and the other half with jelly. The nice thing is that your kids can help out in the kitchen and make this breakfast themselves. Just make sure they get up early to do so!

My favorite overnight oatmeal recipe is the overnight oatmeal chocolate protein shake. Similar in concept to a Mason jar yogurt parfait, prepare the night before in individual jars or resealable containers, and enjoy on the way to school the next morning!
