This recipe was sent to me from my husband’s sister. Her husband has a total sweet tooth (almost like me) and this is one of his favorite desserts! My family went crazy with it. Just be sure to use fresh (not canned) peaches.

My grandfather grew up in Utah where they grew delicious peaches. After one bite of this dessert he said “Those are cooked now!” haha! I loved it because he knew right away that I was using fresh peaches and I loved the dish. I don’t know about you but making food (treats!) my family loves brings me so much joy!

A baked graham cracker crust is followed by a layer of peach jello and fresh peaches mixed together. Then fill it with a sweet cheese mixture and sprinkle graham crackers on top! Just writing about it makes my mouth water :).

There really is nothing like them when you get them in high season. We often like to go to a local peach orchard to pick our own. This easy peach crisp is usually the first thing I make with them! My favorite way to peel peaches is with a peeler or a sharp paring knife. This works best when your peaches are ripe but not too soft. There is also a boiling method you can use but I think it ends up taking more time and dirtying the pot extra.

While the peaches are resting, make the topping. In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until combined.

Using your hands or a pastry cutter, work the mixture until it resembles wet sand. Any chunks of butter should be about the size of a pea or smaller. Place this in the fridge until you are ready to assemble the crisp.

Drain the peaches over a large bowl to catch the juice. Take ¼ cup of the juice and return it to the original large bowl.

Add the topping. Bake for 40-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown on top. Let stand for at least 15 minutes before serving.
